Following on from the success of the Wizarding Film Workshop, in Partnership with Phoenix Square, Largse Scale unveil 3 more filmmaking workshops. 21st Century Kids is a 2 day workshop for Primary aged young people, Two Day Film School is for Secondary Aged young people and Filmmaking Boot Camp is for Adults. 

The Wizarding Film Workshop in December sold out in double quick time, so please book early to ensure your places.

 

21st Century Kids. (2 days).  7-10 Year Olds.

 

21st Century Skills for 21st Century Kids. An introduction to filmmaking and the moving image.

Monday & Tuesday, 21st & 22nd February 2011, 10 am – 4 pm, at Phoenix Square.

 

In an encouraging environment, with an emphasis on doing rather than listening, young people will learn the basic functions of video cameras, how to frame and compose shots and how to use a tripod.

 

Young people will have the opportunity to be creative with cameras, devising or recreating some short scenarios and learn to edit using iMovie.


Make sure you bring a packed lunch and something to drink. Parents and carers will have to complete release form, with emergency contact number, so photos and movies can be posted online. 


Stop Press: Packed lunches will now be available to purchase on the day at £3 for sandwiches, fruit & crisps.


The course is pitched at beginners, though at the start we will ascertain the level of participants and take into account what they want to learn. 


The course plan is not fixed and remains flexible, depending on participants skills, needs and desires. Early on participants will be asked what they would like to learn and what the want to get from the course, which will be tailored accordingly.

Two Day Film School. (2 days). 11 – 16 Year Olds

 

Two Day Film School.  Learn the basics of filmmaking with a professional filmmaker.

Wednesday & Thursday, 23rd  & 24th February 2011, 10 am – 4 pm, at Phoenix Square.

 

Learn the basics well and they will be at your command for life. On this workshop you will learn how to use a camera, the tips and tricks of shooting like a pro, plus the best way to film moving shots. 


Young people will have the opportunity to be creative with cameras, devising or recreating some short scenarios. Young people will learn the basics of editing, and how to export films for DVD or YouTube.

Filmmaking Boot Camp. (1 day).  16 + And Adult

 

Filmmaking Boot Camp.  Learn the basics and be ready to make films!

Saturday  26th February 2011, 10 am – 4 pm, at Phoenix Square.

 

One day basic training for beginners or anyone who would like to improve their camera and filmmaking skills. We will start from the basics, so no one is left behind, though this course will be suitable for those with some experience. At the start we will ascertain the level of participants and take into account what they want to learn. 


The course plan is not fixed and remains flexible, depending on participants skills, needs and desires. Early on participants will be asked what they would like to learn and what the want to get from the course, which will be tailored accordingly. 

 

The course includes basic camera operation, framing and composition, how to make the best use of available light and recording sound. There will be time for lots of Q & A, for you to find out more about practical filmmaking.

 

Steve will provide cameras, however if you want to learn on your own camera, please bring it along, though make sure the batteries are charged!

 

Participants will need to complete a release form so photos and movies can be posted online. Please bring some lunch or some money for the Cafe bar.
