Filming Starts at Great Bowden Primary School.
Mon, Feb 14, 2011
A new term and some more films are already on the way. Large Scale have been working with Y 5 & 6 pupils at Great Bowden Primary School since early January, teaching them some film basics and helping the pupils to develop their ideas. The film we are making is called To Bee Or Not To Bee, and is about a mad professor who wants to kill all the bees in the world, because he has been stung. Who can stop him? Two intrepid bee defenders Jack and Lily try to solve the mystery of the missing bees.

The subject of the film ties in with the class science topic of growth, focusing on plants, their life cycle  and their place in the environment. Bees feature in the film as they are pollinators of plants - just in case you were wondering. There are plenty of bee stats and information within the film.

The class have been creating a set for Dr Bumble's laboratory using anything they can find, and we will shoot those scenes next week. Today was the first filming day and we have made good progress, concentrating on some of the external shots as the weather was good.

To Bee Or Not To Bee will be screened at Phoenix Square on 9th July 2011, with other films made as part of the Cine Hubs scheme.
